Guyana Mithai Recipe

Guyana Mithai Recipe (The secret to making it soft)

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups Flour
  • 2 tbsp Sugar
  • 2 stick Butter
  • 2 tbsp Ghee
  • 1/2 Carnation milk

Instructions
 

  • In a large bowl, add the flour, butter and ghee (We are adding ghee to our recipe as it makes it softer)
  • Add your sugar and mix together
  • Next add the carnation milk and continue kneading to form a stiff dough
  • Rest dough for 1/2 hour.
  • Roll with a rolling pin about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Use a pizza cutter or knife to cut into diamond shapes.
  • Heat oil in a pan on the stove.
  • Fry until golden brown.
  • Pour the paag (sugar coating) and stir to coat.

Notes

To make the paag for the Mithai. 
  1. In a pot, add 1 cup of water and 3 cups of white sugar with a small cinamon stick
  2. Boil until you reach a one string consistency. (See video if needed)
