WELLNESS TIPS: SELF-CARE AT HOME

WELLNESS TIPS: SELF-CARE AT HOME

When it comes to self-care especially for moms, I think it’s something that a lot of us put little to no effort on. Period. Trust me I get that we are all busy with work, kids, home and the million other things that we do on a daily basis but we are humans and if we don’t recharge ourselves, we will not be of any good to anyone especially our families. Our children look to us and how we treat ourselves and that is how they will treat themselves. Be the best role models for your littles by giving your body what it needs to be the best you.

WeIl ladies, it’s time to change and make this year about you. No one will do it for you if you don’t do it for yourself. You owe it to that strong, independent and beautiful woman inside.

HERE ARE SOME WELL DESERVED WELLNESS TIPS FOR SELF-CARE AT HOME

HERE ARE SOME WELL DESERVED WELLNESS TIPS FOR SELF-CARE AT HOME

SLEEP–  You need to sleep girl. Sleep doesn’t come by easy especially if you have a newborn or multiple littles to take care of. Whatever your home situation is, you need to coordinate with your partner or if you are riding solo, I would suggest a night time routine that starts a little earlier that in turn will give you some mama time.

CLEAN YOUR SPACE– Do this! This right here makes or breaks your energy for the day. It takes a few minutes but changes your mood for the day. I get that cleaning is not everyone’s cup of tea but clutter and dirty dishes can overwhelmed you in ways you never thought possible.

DIFFUSE ESSENTIAL OILS – I was never an essential oils gal and it wasn’t until I tried it that I realized how much of a difference it makes. Well at least to me. Below is a list of scents that you can try whether you are looking to remove negative energy or just to improve your concentration. These are all amazing and worth your time.

  • Ylang Ylang – filters out negative energy
  • Orange – uplifting
  • Lavender – heightens relaxation
  • Stress Away – renews the spirit
  • Rosemary – eases anxiety
  • Peppermint – improves concentration
  • Basil – fights mental fatigue
  • Helichrysum – clarifying and grounding

DRINK LOTS OF WATER AND TAKE YOUR VITAMINS – This one speaks for itself. Your body needs to be hydrated at all times for it to function the way you want it to. Don’t forget your one a day vitamins or any specifics that you have been taking. Sometimes it’s hard to remember what your body is lacking when you are so busy with everything else. One way that I remind myself to drink lots of water is by filling my all time favorite water jug the night before and putting it in the fridge. That way, when I wake up in the morning, it’s all ready for me.

GET A HOUSEPLANT – Did you know that indoor plants have so much health benefits. It purifies the air in your home by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. They are not only beautiful to look at but it also emit chemicals called phytoncides into the air which have been shown to lower cortisol levels. You don’t have to be a pro at gardening but keeping some low maintenance plants indoor will bring in so much positive energy.

START A GRATITUDE JOURNAL – So many talks about journalling but Gratitude is an intentional practice. To get the benefits of gratitude, we need to practice it consistently, which means we need to plan a way to incorporate gratitude into our hectic life. The best time in my opinion for you to write your journal is to make it a part of our morning routine. This is not an easy task because all will be well when things are great in your life but life has a way of throwing curve balls and sometimes is is extremely hard to remain grateful with things are falling apart. You have to train your mindset to remain positive and have faith.

SKIN CARE– Most people associate skin-care and beauty treatments with self-care.Of course it’s nice to get a facial or a massage, It’s a luxury that makes us feel pampered and spoiled but isn’t necessary. If you can, that would be great but honestly you can do great things right at home. Start by taking some time to exfoliate your skin, apply a face mask, or add on a skin serum which I recently found for a reasonable price. There are so many trendy beauty tools that you can get and feel like you bring a spa right in your own bathroom. It’s a win win because you get the beauty treatments and you can save some money on the way.

WARM BATH/SHOWER – Ending your night with a warm bath or shower will make you sleep like a baby. The hot water can also relieve muscle tension and improve circulation, while the steam is great for congestion. It not only helps with the physical tension in our bodies but it will  create a positive end to your night.

These are such simple yet powerful tips for you to incorporate in your life. It is not expensive but will leave you feeling like a million dollar woman.

4 TIPS TO START YOUR DAY THAT WILL ATTRACT POSITIVE ENERGY

4 TIPS TO START YOUR DAY THAT WILL ATTRACT POSITIVE ENERGY

Starting your day on a positive note truly sets the tone on how your day will go. You can be the unorganized person who starts with having to drag yourself out of your bed, always hitting the snooze on your alarm or you can be that person that wakes up early with a plan for their day ahead. Ready to attack. I did the first for years and honestly, nothing good came out of it. Then I learned to be an early riser and I soon found out how much I would get done in a day and was more productive than ever. The change was noticeable and things only got better from there. I was in more control of my life and the energy I attract. Things won’t always be good in your life, you have to make it and with the right attitude, you will attract the positive energy you keep hearing about. If you don’t hear anything, it will only be what you hear and not what you’ve experience. Give yourself a chance. You deserve that much.

HERE ARE 4 TIPS THAT WILL ATTRACT POSITIVE ENERGY THAT YOU HAVEN’T HEARD BEFORE.

ROLL TO YOUR RIGHT SIDE BEFORE GETTING OUT OF BED– What’s the difference you ask? To keep this short and simple, when you sleep, the energy in your body becomes dormant. Rolling to your right side before getting out of bed activates that energy and balance your body’s flow. It is a popular believe in India and with good reason. Don’t try it for a day and then stop, make it a part of your morning routine.

YOGA– Take 20 min each day to do something for yourself before going about your routine. Yoga allows you to focus and open your body and mind. You are not just stretching your body but is doing wonders for your mind as well. It can also be a natural energy booster so whenever you  are feeling out of sync, allow your mind to to get the rhythm and open up your breathing with each pose.

Check out The Daily Mediation- Yoga for Positive Energy and Thoughts.

There are too many yoga videos to list, jump on YouTube and find one that works for you.

RUB YOUR HANDS TOGETHER AND PLACE OVER YOUR EYES – It is believe that by doing so,  you are awaking your body by warming it and attracting energy.  Do this to celebrate that you are alive, being grateful to see another day and thank our creator for the air that you breathe.

CLEAN YOUR HOME – This one speaks volume. I’ve always been told by my mom growing up to always keep my kitchen and living space clean before going to bed. No one is saying to deep clean at night, but tidy up and put everything in it’s place. Wash the dirty dishes and wipe down your counters. When you wake up in the morning, sitting in a clean room attracts positive energy. You will be ready to take on your day and not have to worry about cleaning . It really does change your mood. I’m not perfect, there have been days when I was so exhausted to clean the kitchen before bed, and honestly, I do not like that feeling of waking up to a shit show.It ruins my day and I find that most of my day is spent cleaning and trying to gain some positivity. So take it from me, keep your home clean and good things will happen.

Hope these tips can help make a difference if you are someone looking for tips that you haven’t heard or thought of. The only way you can change a not so good routine is by creating good morning habits. It will make a world of a difference.

SELF-CARE FOR MEN – TIPS TO MAKE SURE YOU DON’T NEGLECT YOURSELF

DON’T GET LEFT BEHIND.

“It is so important to take time for yourself and find clarity. The most important relationship is the one you have with yourself” – Diane Von Furstenberg

Self-Care in men is no longer a thing of the past, all around the world there is a subscription to self-care practices. Because being left behind is not the prize we are after, also, It is noticeable in our appearances & our productivity which trickled down to our performances and negatively impacts our resourcefulness. Basically, a lack of self-care  will inhibit our ability to show up when it really matters.

The investment in self-care must not be taken lightly, it is what keep us ahead of our game, whatever your game is. As men, we have a propensity to be seen as being tough, however, when we shy away from the very thing that can put us in control of physical and mental toughness; we are shooting ourselves in the foot.

A 2017 study of men 18 to 30 across three countries revealed that men often feel pressured by society to fit in the male identity. In short, to prove our masculinity, we needed to be perceived as being “TOUGH & AGGRESSIVE”. Further the very thought of self-care deducts from us to be “real men”.

According to WHO, Self-care is what people do for themselves with the emphasis on maintaining physical and mental health and at the same time preventing illness. It encompasses factors such as: hygiene, nutrition, lifestyle among others.

‘Self-Care is what people do for themselves to establish and maintain health, and to prevent and deal with illness. It is a broad concept encompassing hygiene (general and personal), nutrition (type and quality of food eaten), lifestyle (sporting activities, leisure etc.), environmental factors (living conditions, social habits, etc.) socio-economic factors (income level, cultural beliefs, etc.) and self-medication.’- WHO 1998

10 HEALTH BENEFITS OF A BRISK WALK EVERYDAY

10 HEALTH BENEFITS OF A BRISK WALK EVERYDAY

One sure way to stay fit during the pandemic.

A brisk walk is very boring, no doubt. What is also very boring is the fact that we watch others getting into shape and fit whiles we are left behind. What is also very boring is the fact that we are always tired and exhausted for many reasons but mainly a lack of fitness because WALKING as a form of exercise is boring.

Here are the facts of walking for fitness:

You carry your own body weight when you walk. This is known as weight-bearing exercise. Some of the benefits include:

  • increased cardiovascular and pulmonary (heart and lung) fitness
  • reduced risk of heart disease and stroke
  • improved management of conditions such as hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, joint and muscular pain or stiffness, and diabetes
  • stronger bones and improved balance
  • increased muscle strength and endurance
  • reduced body fat.

If we are still not convinced to start doing something about our physical and mental state, here is a quote , I hope can give you the push you are looking for.

“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”

The new normal has seen Gyms closed or restricted, as such we must become resourceful and independent when it comes to stay in shape and keep the extra weight at bay. This is almost an impossible task over the last year. The hope is that this will give you the nudge to hit the bricks.

  • Firstly, Invest in a set of resistance bands to substitute the weight training that you would normally do at the fitness club, these are just as effective as many workout station at the gym.
  • Get your 20 minutes of resistance training in everyday, many of these products comes with a guide as to how you can effectively use them, so, no more excuses.
  • Then start with 20 minutes brisk walk everyday, and gradually increase your time and speed,  maybe during your lunch break at work or in the evening after supper
  • Incorporate some free squats, and light abdominal and waist trimming exercise, maybe start with five and add one daily.
  • Lastly, move to a healthier diet gradually, maybe cut the sugar or carbs or maybe start by changing five of the 21 meals we eat weekly to a healthier option.

7 RULES OF LIFE

7 RULES OF LIFE

Us humans are creatures of habit and routines. We have a way of over complicating things in our lives. It takes years for us to learn and develop certain habits and behaviours and that is the reason why it isn’t easy for us to make changes to our every day life and we shouldn’t expect that we can implement these changes overnight. Life would be easy if we can all be happy and content but we won’t get there if  we can’t apply the basics in our life.

Today, I want to help simplify this list by sharing with you my 5 Rules Of Life which are guaranteed to apply to every person on the planet no matter who you are or where you are from.

7 RULES OF LIFE

  1. LET IT GO– Never ruin a good day by thinking about a bad yesterday. The past is the past and you just need to let certain things go.
  2. IGNORE THEM – Live an empowering life. Do not listen to others that spreads their negative vibe. Surround yourself with positivity.
  3. GIVE IT TIME– Time heals everything. It might not seem like that today but have faith and believe.
  4. DON’T COMPARE– The only person you should try to beat is the person you were yesterday. Thrive to be better than you were. You are the only one that matters.
  5. STAY CALM -Its okay not to have everything figured out, just know that in time, you will get there and it will be totally worth it. Freaking out will only make things worst. Your best decisions are made when you are calm and collective.
  6. IT’S ON YOU– Only you are in charge of your own happiness. No one else. You make or break your own destiny. Remember that.
  7. SMILE– Life is too short. Enjoy it while you have it. Tomorrow is not promised to anyone. Just a smile can lift someone’s mood including your own. Keep smiling!
