7 SIBLING CHRISTMAS TRADITIONS TO START NOW: YOUR CHILDREN WILL CHERISH THE MEMORIES THAT WILL LAST A LIFETIME.

2020 hasn’t been an easy one for many families but spending more time with your family is something we should all be grateful for. I’m sharing with you 7 simple and incredible Christmas traditions that your kiddos can start this year. It doesn’t cost much money but instead you will create memories that will last a lifetime for your family.

Before we start, go snag a copy of the coloring book I made for the littles and also a free Santa letter printable.

These traditions are all about bonding with our loved ones. I love these because it makes Christmas oh so special. The children will love doing these traditions each year and can even pass this on from generation to generation. I’m showing my littles that no matter where they are each year, they will remember that Christmas is all about family and nothing else matters.

Here are my Top 7 Siblings Traditions that are our favorite and certain it will add Joy to your family.

LET THE KIDS DECORATE THE TREE AND HOUSE

Decorating the tree is a big thing for my kids. This year was extra special, Grandma came over and apart from her amazing interior skills which I wish i had, I wanted the kids to create a memory that they will cherish forever. Nate and Grandma hung the decorations up while Sophia was having a blast taking them off as they were putting it on. Bottom line, getting the kiddos involved will make it more memorable for everyone and while it might not look like a magazine cover, always remember that kids live in your house and it is perfectly fine to have an imperfect home.

CHRISTMAS EVE BOX

This is something that I started last year. It’s super simple. I went to the dollar tree and purchased two gift boxes. In it, I had gotten the kiddos Disney matching PJ’s, coloring books, toothbrushes and some of their favorite treats. One thing that they enjoyed is the excitement of opening a present the night before.

BAKING CHRISTMAS COOKIES

Oh boy, we are not big bakers but cookies are what we love. My children loves to put on an apron and getting creative. Decorating cookies are one of their favorite things to do. They love to get messy and I have to say that I love seeing them having fun. Our favorite types of cookies to make during the holidays are shortbread and sugar cookies. Soph loves to help mix while Nate is my decorating dude.

AN ACT OF KINDNESS DURING THE HOLIDAYS

My sister brought the idea up this year since Nate is seven and I immediately thought it was a brilliant idea. The Sick Kids hospital in Toronto is doing a stocking surprise for the children. My heart breaks for the kids that are not able to be in their home especially on Christmas morning. With this gift, we are sure to put a smile on a little face and for just one minute, they will forget where they’re at and can be happy. This felt good and we will be doing more of these because I see how happy Nate was that he was able to put a smile on someone’s face.

DRIVING AROUND THE CITY TO EXPERIENCE THE LIGHTS AND FESTIVITIES.

One of the things that will cost nothing yet will put everyone in the Christmas mood is driving around your city to see the lights and outdoor decorations. While driving, play some Christmas tunes and just sing your hearts out.The kids can even have some hot chocolate with marshmallows while looking out the car windows for that extra treat.

SANTA LETTER

This is one of the first things we did once December rolled around. We sat with the kids and have them write or tell us (in Sophie’s case since she’s only 2) what they would like Santa to bring them. Nate of course had his list planned out. Snag a copy of my free Santa letter printable.

SHOPPING FOR A SMALL PRESENT FOR EACH OTHER

Gifts? Anyone says Gifts? Nate surprised me this year, it might be because he’s getting older and wiser. He told me he wanted to get Sophie something special. He even told me how much he was willing to spend. $30. That was much more than i was expecting from him. He wanted to get her a doll because he knows how much she loves them.Hearing him talk about it brings so much Joy because I know he’s thinking of others and that is what we are all trying to teach our children. He picked it out on amazon since we’ve been doing all of our shopping online. I also had Soph picked something out for Nate which of course I had a greater input than her because she’s only two and doesn’t really get the concept yet but her brother will love getting a present from his little sister.Remember, it doesn’t have to cost much, it’s the thought that counts and this is something they will grow up remembering.

I hope you enjoy these simple yet memorable traditions that you can start with your own little family.

xoxo
