If you’ve got hair woos, you’ve come to the right place. We all wished we had long, think, luscious hair don’t we? The harsh truth is that we don’t and we are always looking for a quick fix.
I can’t even begin to tell you how many things I’ve tried with my own troubles. After having my youngest, my hair shed and shed and shed. I’m not kidding. My bathroom floor had to be vacuumed every time I brushed my hair not forgetting the chunks that would come out in the bathtub on wash days. My hair was lacking everything it seems. I bought countless hair products and vitamins and nothing was helping.
It wasn’t until I started looking into DIY hair oils from an older Indian woman that I came across on YouTube. My first thought was that I can make these oils right at home and experiment on which is better for my hair type as well as my bank account.
Here are some amazing hair oils that you can make at home with just a few ingredients that will help with all your hair problems.
OILIVE OIL , FENUGREEK AND BLACK SEEDS
This is such a strong combination. It boost hair growth and promotes healthy strong hair.
Instructions:
- Add water to a pan
- Place a bowl on top of the pan to create a double boiler
- Add 1/2 cup olive oil
- Add 1 tbsp. fenugreek seed (treats shedding and thinning hair)
- Add 1 tbsp. black seeds (promotes hair growth)
- Warm oil on low heat for 15-20 min
- Pour in a jar with the seeds as it will continue to infuse the oil.
- Massage the oil in your scalp, leave for 30 min and wash.
CASTER OIL, ALMOND OIL AND ROSEMARY ESSENTIAL OIL
This super mixture will increase blood circulation, thicker hair growth, repair damages and treat thinning and shedding hair.
Instructions:
- Add 2 tbsp. of caster oil to a jar and place it in a bowl of boiling water for 10 min
- Add 1 tbsp. of almond or any of your favorite oil to the caster
- Add 5-7 drops of rosemary essential oils (treats shedding and promote hair growth)
- Massage the warm oil to scalp and leave for 30 min or overnight. Wash
COCONUT OIL AND ROSE WATER
Let’s make a hair shine spray to help with your frizzy hair. It can also be used as a detangler and adds additional moisture.
Instructions:
- Add 1 tbsp. of coconut oil
- Add 1/2 cup rose water or aloe vera juice
- Lightly spray on your hair after wash. It will nourish and condition your hair.
SESAME OIL, AMLA AND ONION
This mixture is to strengthen hair, treat shedding hair, prevent hair loss and premature greying.
Instructions:
- Add 1/4 cup of amla (stimulate hair grown and reduce hair loss)
- 1/4 cup onion (makes hair stronger and prevents hair loss)
- 1/2 cup sesame oil
- Blend everything
- Strain
- Massage the oil to your scalp and leave for 30 min , then wash.
ALMOND OIL AND RICE WATER
Make this if you are someone who needs to repair and protect hair.
Instructions:
- Add 1 tbsp of almond oil to 1/2 cup fermented rice water or aloe vera juice
- Shake really well and leave it on your scalp for 30 min before rinsing off
For best results, use cold-pressed oils. Try to oil your hair twice a week, too much oiling can clog the pores on your scalp. Remember to be consistent. It won’t work if you try it for a few days and loose hope. Give it an honest try and let me know
Please note that the olive and hair oil blend can be kept in a cool dry place for 2 months. The sesame oil, coconut oil spray, and almond oil rice water spray can be kept for 2 weeks in the refrigerator.
