When it comes to self-care especially for moms, I think it’s something that a lot of us put little to no effort on. Period. Trust me I get that we are all busy with work, kids, home and the million other things that we do on a daily basis but we are humans and if we don’t recharge ourselves, we will not be of any good to anyone especially our families. Our children look to us and how we treat ourselves and that is how they will treat themselves. Be the best role models for your littles by giving your body what it needs to be the best you.

WeIl ladies, it’s time to change and make this year about you. No one will do it for you if you don’t do it for yourself. You owe it to that strong, independent and beautiful woman inside.

HERE ARE SOME WELL DESERVED WELLNESS TIPS FOR SELF-CARE AT HOME

HERE ARE SOME WELL DESERVED WELLNESS TIPS FOR SELF-CARE AT HOME

SLEEP–  You need to sleep girl. Sleep doesn’t come by easy especially if you have a newborn or multiple littles to take care of. Whatever your home situation is, you need to coordinate with your partner or if you are riding solo, I would suggest a night time routine that starts a little earlier that in turn will give you some mama time.

CLEAN YOUR SPACE– Do this! This right here makes or breaks your energy for the day. It takes a few minutes but changes your mood for the day. I get that cleaning is not everyone’s cup of tea but clutter and dirty dishes can overwhelmed you in ways you never thought possible.

DIFFUSE ESSENTIAL OILS – I was never an essential oils gal and it wasn’t until I tried it that I realized how much of a difference it makes. Well at least to me. Below is a list of scents that you can try whether you are looking to remove negative energy or just to improve your concentration. These are all amazing and worth your time.

  • Ylang Ylang – filters out negative energy
  • Orange – uplifting
  • Lavender – heightens relaxation
  • Stress Away – renews the spirit
  • Rosemary – eases anxiety
  • Peppermint – improves concentration
  • Basil – fights mental fatigue
  • Helichrysum – clarifying and grounding

DRINK LOTS OF WATER AND TAKE YOUR VITAMINS – This one speaks for itself. Your body needs to be hydrated at all times for it to function the way you want it to. Don’t forget your one a day vitamins or any specifics that you have been taking. Sometimes it’s hard to remember what your body is lacking when you are so busy with everything else. One way that I remind myself to drink lots of water is by filling my all time favorite water jug the night before and putting it in the fridge. That way, when I wake up in the morning, it’s all ready for me.

GET A HOUSEPLANT – Did you know that indoor plants have so much health benefits. It purifies the air in your home by absorbing carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen. They are not only beautiful to look at but it also emit chemicals called phytoncides into the air which have been shown to lower cortisol levels. You don’t have to be a pro at gardening but keeping some low maintenance plants indoor will bring in so much positive energy.

START A GRATITUDE JOURNAL – So many talks about journalling but Gratitude is an intentional practice. To get the benefits of gratitude, we need to practice it consistently, which means we need to plan a way to incorporate gratitude into our hectic life. The best time in my opinion for you to write your journal is to make it a part of our morning routine. This is not an easy task because all will be well when things are great in your life but life has a way of throwing curve balls and sometimes is is extremely hard to remain grateful with things are falling apart. You have to train your mindset to remain positive and have faith.

SKIN CARE– Most people associate skin-care and beauty treatments with self-care.Of course it’s nice to get a facial or a massage, It’s a luxury that makes us feel pampered and spoiled but isn’t necessary. If you can, that would be great but honestly you can do great things right at home. Start by taking some time to exfoliate your skin, apply a face mask, or add on a skin serum which I recently found for a reasonable price. There are so many trendy beauty tools that you can get and feel like you bring a spa right in your own bathroom. It’s a win win because you get the beauty treatments and you can save some money on the way.

WARM BATH/SHOWER – Ending your night with a warm bath or shower will make you sleep like a baby. The hot water can also relieve muscle tension and improve circulation, while the steam is great for congestion. It not only helps with the physical tension in our bodies but it will  create a positive end to your night.

These are such simple yet powerful tips for you to incorporate in your life. It is not expensive but will leave you feeling like a million dollar woman.
